Gracious Mercy & Merciful Grace

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

You are a Peter; drenched to the bone, more by fear than water; your eyes gaping wide and hands grasping desperately onto what’s left of the dancing boat. Jesus commands you to approach the throne of grace with confidence, He is asking you to look at Him, look to Him and not once should you let your glance waver towards the waves.

You are the anemic woman, pushing your way through the throngs of indifferent crowds; on all fours, like an animal, you painfully make your way towards the throne of grace, to receive mercy from the hem of his garment.

You are a dwarf in a city of hulks; ostracized and rebuked by the self-righteous spiritual giants under the label of Pharisees. But that doesn’t stop you from grabbing onto the snapping twigs and branches as you make your away to the top of a tree, just to catch a glimpse of His throne of Grace.

You are David; too strong for Goliath but too weak for Bathsheba. You would rather kill an innocent man than your innocent flesh just to satisfy your lust. Jesus calls out to you and holds out his hands. He’s willing to take your sins, if you’re willing to give them to Him. He urges you to approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that you may receive mercy and find grace to help you in this, your time of need.

Despite your circumstances; whether you are a young girl caught making undercover thunder or you are an ex-prostitute burying a dead brother. Whether you are a dead-scared student with your mind working on overdrive to erase all allegiance to your captured teacher, or you are just a naturalist who has little faith in the super-natural and needs to caress nail-scarred hands for proof…

Whoever you are, whatever you are, or you think you are, whether rich or poor, sinner to saint; Jesus, our high priest, awaits you at the throne of grace, holding an overflowing cup-full of scarlet mercy and grace to help you in your time of need.
